The vast Liuwa Plain National Park is one of Africa's last untouched wilderness areas. Situated on the upper Zambezi floodplains of western Zambia. The landscape holds a special magic in every season. In October and November, dramatic thunderstorms gather on the horizon, when the plains are flooded from January - May, the shimmering blue lagoons are dotted with lilies and large flocks of wading birds. The park hosts a burgeoning cheetah population, hyenas, zebra, red lechwe, eland, buffalo, tessebe and more than 300 bird species, including abundant crowned cranes and endangered wattled cranes.

The park is located in the upper floodplain of the Zambezi River in western Zambia. The parks landscapes change with the seasons. In October and November, severe thunderstorms blanket the horizon, and from January to May, flooded fields transform into shimmering blue lagoons dotted with lilies and flocks of wading birds. Luwa National Park has a thriving population of cheetah, hyena, zebra, lychee and elanda antelope, buffalo, and over 300 species of birds.
