The whales come very close to shore, and can be observed from special viewing platforms on the coastal cliffs. When a whale approaches the shore most closely, a special whale watch calls out through a megaphone, urging everyone to prepare for this exciting spectacle. The World Wildlife Fund considers Hermanus one of the 12 best whale-watching spots in the world.
