What do we know about Zambia?

Lusaka has a population of 17 million, 1.5 million of which live in Lusaka. It borders eight countries and is landlocked. Emeralds and copper are mined here. You probably know that Victoria Falls is located there. But for many of us, thats where our knowledge of this country ends. Thanks to this, the wildlife here is virtually untouched, tourists are few, and the landscapes have remained unchanged for hundreds of years. If you love safari, youll find unique parks, a dense animal population, two picturesque rivers, excellent fishing, animal migrations, Leopard Valley, top guides, secluded camps, and first-class service.

More than 30% of the territory is national parks, of which four of the most interesting are: South Luangwa, Lower Zambezi, Kafue and Luwa Valley .

Below we offer tours visiting the best places.

SOUTH LUANGWA

South Luangwa is Zambias premier national park and one of the largest wildlife reserves in the world. Its also known as the Valley of the Leopards due to the parks abundance of them. Leopards are among the most secretive animals, difficult to spot on safari, but here theyre so bold that they even hunt during the day.
A safari in South Luangwa is unlike any other. If youre a seasoned traveler, youll appreciate the wildness of its nature, and if this is your first safari, youll fall in love with Africa forever. The concentration of wildlife in the Luangwa River and its lagoons is one of the densest in Africa.

SAFARI TYPES

CLASSIC SAFARI

A classic safari is the best way to see a wide variety of wild animals, both large and small. Youll visit every corner of the Lower Zambezi National Park and see Zambias untouched wilderness.

You can also encounter nocturnal animals during evening safaris. Expect to see elusive leopards, genets, civets, porcupines, and pale owls. Big cats are typically more active at night, and you might even witness them hunting. Your guide will point out the constellations of the southern night sky.

CANOE

The Lower Zambezi is ideal for canoeing. Explore the riverbanks with experienced guides. Youll see wildlife from a completely different perspective – from below. A full-day canoeing trip with a picnic stop – what could be better? Use this time to relax, enjoy the pure beauty of nature, and the sounds of the fascinating birds.

MOTORBOAT SAFARI

During a scenic boat cruise, youll spot wild animals at watering holes and swimming. Only by boat can you truly appreciate the vast herds of hippos and the crocodile population.

WALKING SAFARI

A walk is the best way to meet the smallest wild animals, learn about plants and trees, and explore various signs and tracks. In the morning, while the weather is still cool, youll embark on a safari drive to the starting point of a fascinating and highly informative walking tour. Be careful: encounters with large wild animals, even lions, are common during the walks!

SAFARI ON THE SHORES OF THE LOWER ZAMBEZI

Lower Zambezi National Park is located between a dramatic mountain range to the north and the Zambezi River to the south. This range acts as a natural barrier to wildlife, confining it to the plains and riparian forests. The Lower Zambezi is a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts. Youre sure to encounter elephants and hippos in the park, as well as a healthy population of lions and leopards. Encounters with hyenas and wild dogs are also common. Other commonly seen animals include servals and wild cats. Smaller animals include side-striped jackals, striped mongooses, tiger genets, civets, tree squirrels, honey badgers, porcupines, and aardvarks.

LUWA NATIONAL PARK

The vast Liuwa National Park is one of Africas last remaining wild and untouched areas. Situated in the upper Zambezi River floodplain in western Zambia, the parks landscapes change with the seasons. In October and November, severe thunderstorms obscure the horizon, while from January to May, flooded fields transform into shimmering blue lagoons dotted with lilies and flocks of wading birds. Liuwa National Park is home to thriving populations of cheetahs, hyenas, zebras, lechwe and eland antelope, buffalo, topis, and over 300 bird species, including crowned cranes and the rare Wattled Crane.
